According to a report from Punch, Elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark, claimed that Nyesom Wike brought seven individuals to meet with Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje in Abuja, leading to the formation of a caretaker committee. Clark argued that Okocha's involvement in this situation revealed his intention to separate from Rotimi Amaechi.

Clark stated that the political turmoil in Rivers State can be attributed to the actions of these individuals, including Wike, who allegedly recruited Okocha to challenge Amaechi. He believed that Wike is manipulating Fubara, the current Rivers State Governor, for his own political interests.

Clark said that Wike took seven people to see Ganduje in Abuja, where they formed a caretaker committee, resulting in Okocha becoming the chairman of Rivers State APC. Clark emphasized that Okocha's actions indicated he no longer wanted to align with Amaechi. He criticized Wike for recruiting Okocha to fight Amaechi and accused Wike of using Fubara for his own purposes. ( Photo credit : The Vanguard Newspaper Verified Facebook Page )

During an interview with The Punch, he remarked, "Wike later took seven of them to see (Dr Abdullahi) Ganduje in Abuja. They formed a (caretaker) committee, and today, he is the chairman of Rivers State APC. So, it was obvious from the start that Okocha didn’t want to be with Amaechi again.

These are the people scattering Rivers State. As I said before, there is an existing APC executive in Rivers State, why are they not using it? Why would Wike recruit Okocha? It was because he was looking for somebody who could fight Amaechi for him. So, Wike cannot eat his cake and have it. He is the one using Fubara."
