According to a report by The Standard, Manchester United's squad received a much-needed boost as Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford returned to training ahead of their highly anticipated clash against Arsenal this Sunday.

Manager Erik ten Hag has been grappling with a depleted squad in recent weeks, particularly in defense, with 11 first-team players sidelined during their recent defeat to Crystal Palace.

However, the Red Devils provided a positive update on Thursday, confirming that both Rashford and Martinez participated in the full team session as they gear up for the crucial fixture.

Rashford had been sidelined due to an injury sustained during the FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry, causing him to miss the subsequent three games.

Martinez, who has faced a tumultuous season plagued by injuries, has only made 11 appearances so far, and he recently suffered a calf issue in March shortly after returning from a previous lay-off.

Despite their return to training, it remains uncertain whether either player will be fit enough to start against Arsenal as United aims to reignite their bid to qualify for European competitions.

Additionally, doubts linger over the availability of key players Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay, who missed the trip to Crystal Palace. The absence of their names in the training update suggests that they may still be sidelined.

In light of the injury woes, Manchester United has turned to academy talents, including Harry Amass, Louis Jackson, Habeeb Ogunneye, Toby Collyer, and Ethan Wheatley, to bolster the squad amidst the spate of first-team injuries.
