Group Captain Sedeeq Garba Shehu, a retired Air Force officer, has talked about the importance of community vigilance in areas facing security threats. He highlighted that people living in such regions need to be more alert and aware of their surroundings. Shehu mentioned past incidents where the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno successfully stopped suicide bombers due to their attentiveness.

In a video shared by Arise TV, Shehu shared a specific example where people watching TV noticed someone acting suspiciously. He said they kept an eye on the person who turned out to be a suicide bomber. He said the bomber eventually detonated the device but only killed himself, thanks to the community's vigilance. Shehu emphasized that security is everyone's responsibility and that being watchful can save lives and prevent tragedies.

In Shehu's words: "People were watching TV and somebody came in with a suicide bomb but they were able to detect suspicious movement from that person, and the person eventually detonated and only killed himself. So this is what I am talking about vigilance from the community and security is everybody's business"
