In a blunt interview on News Central TV, a Publisher of the Niche Newspaper, Ikechukwu Amaechi speculated that President Tinubu appointed Wike due to his influential role among the G5 governors and his ability to secure political victories in Rivers State, even if through controversial means.He referred to the 2023 election in Rivers State as the most rigged in the country, citing reports from foreign media outlets such as the BBC.
He criticized Wike for his control over the election process, including purchasing forms for candidates and hindering the campaigning efforts of other political parties, emphasizing that these actions do not align with democratic principles.
He said, "Why I think President Bola Tinubu appointed Wike was the role he played with G5 governors, and the magic he did in Rivers State. Let's be real, the election in Rivers State in 2023 was the most rigged in this country and it is on records. Even foreign reporters, BBC and others had a very good analysis of what happened in Rivers State. Even if we don't go by any other reports, this man (Wike) said he bought form for everybody and made sure that all of them won the election.
