Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, strongly condemned the demolition of properties valued at over N11 billion belonging to Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu by the Federal Capital Territory Administration led by Minister Nyesom Wike.
According to Ukachukwu, the demolition took place without any court order, despite the existence of two court orders prohibiting the Minister and the FCT administration from tampering with the property.
Ukachukwu appealed to President Bola Tinubu to step in and safeguard the substantial investment he had put into the property.
Minister Wike responded by stating that the land allocated to Ukachukwu did not have any ministerial approval. He also raised concerns about land-grabbing in Abuja, attributing it to compromised officials within the land department of his ministry.
Reacting, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu criticized the demolition, underscoring that Ukachukwu, a patriotic Nigerian, had made significant investments in Abuja's development.
He highlighted the Igbo community's contributions to the city's progress, stressing the importance of individuals like Nicholas Ukachukwu in advancing this growth.
Iwuanyanwu expressed solidarity with Ukachukwu and emphasized the significance of investing billions of Naira in Abuja as a demonstration of faith in Nigeria's unity and dedication to its prosperity.
According to Daily Post, Iwuanyanwu condemned the demolition, saying, “I understand that properties valued at over N11 billion were demolished. Nicholas Ukachukwu is an exceptionally patriotic Nigerian who has invested significant time and resources into developing Abuja.
“The contribution of the Igbos to Abuja’s development cannot be overlooked, and among such contributors, young men like Nicholas Ukachukwu must be remembered. Anyone who invests billions of Naira in Abuja surely does so because they believe in the unity of Nigeria and are dedicated to its prosperity. This is a matter of concern for me.”
