According to a report by The Times Of Israel, tensions have risen following Hezbollah's rocket bombardment hitting northern Israel’s Lower Galilee. Reports indicate that Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon were retaliatory.

Maaroub, a town in the Tyre area about 20 kilometres from the Israeli border, was the target of airstrikes, according to Lebanese media.

The Lebanese political and terrorist group Hezbollah recently fired missiles into northern Israel, setting off alarms and forcing residents to take cover as the situation suddenly became more dangerous. Israeli forces moved quickly in response to the rocket fire from Lebanon, which escalated cross-border hostilities and targeted Hezbollah's southern Lebanon infrastructure.

Reports of airstrikes in Lebanon have gone unanswered by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). It appears that the strikes were carried out in response to Hezbollah's provocation, with the objective of protecting Israeli citizens, based on their time and location. Both Hezbollah and Israel have a history of resorting to military actions in response to persistent political tensions, which has put regional stability at risk.

The town of Maaroub, allegedly targeted by the attacks, is located in an area notorious for Hezbollah's presence and has often been hit during times of increased conflict between the militant group and Israel. Lebanese officials have not yet released numbers about casualties or the damage done by the airstrikes, showing how intense and dynamic the situation is near the unstable Israel-Lebanon border.
