A current development in the legal landscape has seen a Federal High Court in Kano, under the auspices of Justice Simon Amobeda, intervene in the ongoing probe of former Kano State governor and current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje. The court has issued an interim order, effectively restraining two commissions of inquiry, established by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, from further proceedings until the conclusion of the lawsuit initiated by Dr. Ganduje.

According to a report by Daily Post, the interim order, issued by Justice Amobeda, specifically prohibits the fourth and fifth Defendants/Respondents from exercising executive functions within Kano's courtrooms designated for adjudicating disputes between individuals and authorities. This injunction serves as a temporary measure until the court makes a final determination on the matter.

The decision comes following a thorough review of an ex parte application supported by an affidavit sworn to by Idris Abdullahi Dawakin Tofa, a resident of Abuja. The application, backed by Exhibits A-C and a Written Address by the Applicant’s Counsel, Abdulrrazaq A. Ahmed, Esq., presented compelling arguments for the court's intervention.

Justice Amobeda has granted the Respondents a five-day window to file their responses to the court order and accompanying documents. The Respondents in the case include the National Judicial Council, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Attorney-General of Kano State, Hon. Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu, and Hon. Justice Zuwaira Yusuf.

The court has scheduled a hearing for the case on May 28, 2024. This marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal saga surrounding the probe of Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, setting the stage for further deliberations and legal proceedings.
