According to reports from DAILY POST, President Bola Tinubu has urged government officials to prioritize their duties to the Nigerian people.

Addressing the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) on Saturday, Tinubu, represented by his Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized the need for public servants to uphold the public trust.

"Our public institutions are not personal enterprises," Tinubu stated firmly. "Each of us is an employee of the Nigerian citizen, and we must be accountable to them."

The President's remarks come amidst ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency and integrity within the country's bureaucracy.

Despite the institutional measures already in place, Tinubu acknowledged that "there are still cracks often exploited by those given the trust of the nation."

Recognizing this challenge, he reaffirmed his administration's determination to create an environment where merit is rewarded and public servants feel valued and motivated to give their best.

The Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS), a private sector initiative in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation, was hailed by Tinubu as a strategic platform to "inspire the bulk of the nation's workforce, set benchmarks, and create a ripple effect of positive change throughout our society."

Tinubu emphasized the significance of reward and recognition as hallmarks of thriving institutions and nations.

"Our labour force remains the ultimate reflection of our principles, as practiced by men and women who rise every day with a commitment to building a better future for all citizens," he said.
