BREAKING: Police, Others Prevent EFCC From Arresting Yahaya Bello

EFCC operatives attempted to arrest former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello at his Abuja residence but were prevented by armed men, including police officers. The siege prompted a visit from the current Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, and a statement from Bello's media office condemning the action. The EFCC's move was allegedly in violation of a court order obtained by Bello, which restrained the commission from harassing or arresting him. Bello's media office accused the EFCC of using spurious allegations to embarrass and harass him, particularly citing a charge dating back to 2015. The state government also criticized the EFCC's actions, labeling them as ridiculous and questioning the agency's commitment to fighting corruption.

The order was issued by a Kano State High Court following an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani.
