In a recent statement, former lawmaker Shehu Sani has spoken about the rising insecurity and terrorism in Northern Nigeria.

He made these statements during the Politics Today program on Channels TV.

Shehu Sani blamed the situation on long-standing governance and leadership failures.

Sani pointed out that the region has suffered from neglect and poor administration for many years and this neglect, he argued, has allowed insecurity to continue.

He criticized past and present leaders for not addressing the root causes of the problem and highlighted the impact of terrorism on the daily lives of people in the North.

He noted that many communities live in fear and uncertainty, stating that lack of safety has disrupted normal activities and economic growth.

During the interview, Sani called for urgent action to improve security in the region and urged the government to adopt a more general approach.

This approach should include addressing poverty, unemployment, and poor education.

He also stressed the need for better coordination among security agencies.

''The situation in the Northern part of Nigeria today is the product of the failure of governance and leadership that has happened for over 3-4 decades,'' Shehu Sani said.
