In Kenya, a wave of protests has erupted, initially triggered by controversial proposed tax hikes but has since evolved into a broader movement demanding more accountable governance.

The protests have gained momentum, with some calling for the resignation of the entire government.

In an effort to address the situation, President William Ruto hosted a virtual town hall meeting on X, which drew a large audience of over 134,000 participants, including Nigerians.

During the session, Kenyans expressed their grievances and frustrations, with one man passionately declaring that they will no longer be deceived and are determined to bring about change.

However, a Nigerian participant responded, suggesting that Kenya's protests had led to the destruction of infrastructure, unlike Nigeria's more organized approach.

The Kenyan man quickly countered, defining infrastructure as essential services like good schools, hospitals, roads, reliable electricity and water supply, jobs, and effective governance, distinguishing these from politicians' luxurious assets like mansions and flashy cars.

His response highlighted the protesters' focus on substantive improvements, not just symbolic gestures.

The exchange exemplifies the passionate debates surrounding Kenya's protests and the desire for meaningful reform, as the country grapples with demands for greater accountability and better governance.
