Wole Soyinka should be bestowed the second-highest national honor, the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egba land. The first African to win the Nobel Prize in Literature is Wole Soyinka, a writer and poet. On July 13, 2024, the novelist who was born in Ogun would turn 90 years old.

It will be good to henceforth adopt his birthday, which is July 13, as Wole Soyinka Day," Alake of Egba land Oba Adedotun Gbadebo said, according to The Punch.

Why can't we observe our own day in his honor, just as New Orleans, USA, which has already designated one for him? For his part in bringing our beloved country to the attention of the world, he continued, "The Federal Government should also confer on Wole Soyinka the second highest national honour of Grand Commander of Order of Niger.

I believe that people like Prof Soyinka should be celebrated while they are alive," Paul Bankole, who was in charge of organizing Soyinka's 90th birthday party, responded. Let us not hold off on praising them till they are no longer with us.

Send the message that they are important to us and that we recognize their individual efforts to make the world a better place. Many Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to a recent declaration made by Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the traditional monarch of Egba land. The comment was carried by The Punch on its verified page.
