A Member of the House of Reps, Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State, Honourable Ikenga Ugochinyere has reacted as an Appeal Court in Abuja allows former PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus and Former Rivers State Governor, Celestine Omehia to attend a PDP NEC meeting as against a court order filed by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike faction against the PDP leaders by a Rivers High Court.

He expressed gratitude to the Court of Appeal for putting an end to efforts to exclude rightful party members from attending the NEC meeting, describing the attempts as an immature act of desperation by those who believe they can exploit the judiciary to advance their political agendas.

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt had upheld the suspension of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the PDP in 2021. The Court restrained Secondus from parading himself as the National Chairman of the party.

A PDP Member from Rivers State identified to be a member of the Wike faction, Titus Jones had through an ex-parte application before the court obtained an order to restrain Secondus and some other PDP leaders in Rivers State from attending party meetings ahead of the PDP NEC Meeting today on the 5th of April. However, just yesterday, the Rivers High Court was informed of an appeal filed by the Former PDP Chairman and Former River State Governor, Celestine Omehia.

Hon Ugochinyere said in a report by Punch, ''The attempt by persons hobnobbing with the ruling All Progressives Congress to stop the former chairman of the party, Mr Uche Secondus and the former Rivers state governor, Celestine Omehia and other leaders of the party from attending the NEC of the party.

We appreciate the Court of Appeal for ending the madness to stop rightful members of the party from attending the NEC which is a childish desperation by people who feel the decision of the Judiciary can be used in advancing their political abracadabra.''
