In a revealing interview with Arise News, Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Rubba of the Kano Emirate, provided insights into his recent legal victory concerning the retention of his traditional title.

The conflict began when Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, attempted to alter Dan Agundi's traditional title of Sarkin Dawaki to another title. Dan Agundi, who inherited the title from his father, strongly opposed this change. "In fact, he didn't remove me, he said he wanted to change my title Sarkin Dawaki to another title. I refused; this is the title I inherited from my father and I don't want any other title," Dan Agundi stated during the interview.

Dan Agundi's refusal to accept the title change led to a legal battle that traversed various levels of the Nigerian judiciary. He initially challenged Emir Bayero's action in the High Court, where he secured a favorable ruling. This victory was subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeal. However, the dispute reached the Supreme Court, where Dan Agundi claimed to know the intricacies of the proceedings and the ultimate outcome.

"I challenged Bayero, I won in the High Court, I won in the Court of Appeal, I know what has happened in the Supreme Court," Dan Agundi recounted.
