Wale Edun: Tinubu's Meeting with Macron Will Enhance Job Creation in Nigeria
In a recent post by Punch, During his state visit to France, President Bola Tinubu held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, where several agreements were signed between the two nations. Tinubu’s delegation, which includes Finance Minister Wale Edun, is in France for the visit, and Edun shared insights with Channels Television on Friday regarding the outcomes of the engagement.
Edun emphasized that the discussions between Tinubu and Macron were promising for Nigeria’s economic growth, particularly in terms of job creation and industrial development. He highlighted that Tinubu’s ongoing reforms aimed at stabilizing and resetting Nigeria's economy were a key message to Macron, signaling that Nigeria is ready for investment.
On Macron’s part, Edun noted that the French president encouraged both the public and private sectors in France to increase their investments in Nigeria, further supporting the country’s economic growth. The two leaders agreed to collaborate on various sectors, including agriculture, finance, housing, technology, and more.
In particular, Edun pointed out that both nations expressed commitment to joint initiatives in agriculture to improve food security. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the area of solid minerals, with both countries’ ministers for solid minerals involved. Similarly, agreements were made in the finance sector, solidifying the partnership between the two nations.
This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing Nigeria’s economic prospects through foreign collaboration, with a focus on key sectors that are vital to the country's long-term development.
