Hausas Are Not Political Leaders In The North, The Political Leaders Are The Fulanis- Uwazurike

Chief Goddy Uwazurike, a former delegate to the 2014 National Conference and the then President of an Igbo socio-cultural organization, has asserted that the Fulanis, not the Hausas, hold political leadership roles in the North. He emphasized that while Hausa is a language spoken by a tribe, the Fulanis are recognized as the political leaders across all Northern states.

During an interview with The Sun, Uwazurike remarked, "Let me surprise you; there are many minorities in the North. In the South, we often classify everyone as either Hausa or Fulani, but this is not entirely accurate. The Hausa people primarily engage in farming and trade, but they do not dominate political leadership in the North; that role belongs to the Fulani, who are present throughout all Northern states. Our focus extended beyond mere political leadership, leading to the proposal of 18 states. Therefore, Ikenga and Nwoko are liberated; let the calls for change persist until the civilians act appropriately. That's my stance."
