Shehu Sani Reacts as Nigeria's Arms Control Centre Moves to Destroy N4bn Seized Weapons By Customs

Shehu Sani, a notable PDP figure and former senator from Kaduna, has raised concerns about the decision of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons to destroy a significant cache of arms and ammunition intercepted by the Nigerian Customs Service.

As reported by PUNCH, the Nigerian Customs Service seized a 40-foot container in Port Harcourt containing 844 rifles and 112,500 live ammunition, which were cleverly hidden within various items like doors, furniture, and leather bags.

The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons has confirmed that these seized weapons have been handed over to them and are slated for destruction after proper documentation.

In response to this development, Shehu Sani questioned why the weapons would not be allocated to the Defence or security agencies to support efforts in combating insecurity in the country. He expressed his confusion and criticism by stating, "Why not give it to Defence or security agencies?"
