Four suicide bombers carried out separate strikes in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, on Saturday, leaving a path of death and devastation in their wake.

The Sun Newspaper reported on Monday that family members of the victims have described their awful experiences of losing loved ones in the horrific attacks.

The 18 victims of the attacks—which took place in the towns of Gwoza and Pulka—were adults, children, pregnant women, and a soldier.

Nineteen other people were critically hurt and are being treated at Maiduguri's State Specialist Hospital.

Over the years, hundreds of people have been murdered, injured, and property destroyed in Boko Haram raids that have targeted Gwoza, which is close to the Mandara Mountains and Sambisa Forest.

Concerns about the revival of suicide bombers in the area have been raised by the recent incidents.

Relatives of the victims gathered at the State Specialist Hospital, telling the newsmen about their traumatic experiences.

Gwoza resident Buba Shehu described how the attack claimed the lives of five of his family members, three of whom passed away at their home during a wedding event.

He said, "This is just like a dream; I have lost five people in my family in less than 24 hours.

He described the incident as a nightmare, saying it felt like a movie. Three died yesterday as a result of the dastardly act by suicide bomber during wedding reception at our family house in Gwoza."

The community is in shock as a result of the attacks, and many are pushing for further security measures to stop similar tragedies in the future.

The government of Borno State, however, has denounced the attacks and pledged assistance to the impacted families.
