A section of leaders who are close allies of President William Samoei Ruto have been missing in action since the outbreak of anti-government protests that rocked the entire nation for the last three weeks. The leaders have been maintaining a low profile after supporting the controversial finance bill.

Among those who have been silent includes the National Assembly Leader of Majority Hon Kimani Ichungwah who went silent after angry protesters stormed his offices in Kikuyu constituency and burnt it down. Since then, the vocal lawmaker has been silent with many wondering what he is doing behind the scenes.

On Friday, the Kikuyu constituency lawmaker resurfaced online when President William Samoei Ruto was speaking to the youths online. Kimani Ichungwah posted some of the development projects he is conducting in his Kikuyu constituency, such as tarmacking of roads.

Other close allies of President William Samoei Ruto who have remained silent includes Kiharu constituency Member of Parliament Hon Ndindi Nyoro and Molo constituency Member of Parliament Hon Kimani Kuria who saw his mansion destroyed by angry protesters after he supported the controversial Finance Bill.

This comes after majority of lawmakers, especially those who supported the finance bill continue to maintain a low profile by avoiding visiting their constituencies for fear of being attacked by residents. They are waiting for the political temperatures to cool.

On the other hand, president William Samoei Ruto has declared several changes in government, including abolishing unconstitutional offices such as first lady, forming a special committee for auditing public debt.
