Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole has accused Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State of using his immunity to cover his predecessor, Yahaya Bello.

He said Ododo wrongly used his immunity by preventing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from arresting Bello.

EFCC had accused Bello of money laundering and corruption to the tune of N80.2 billion.

As part of its ongoing investigation, the anti-graft agency had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja, in an attempt to arrest him.

PDP Wins Oyo 33 LG Seats

In Oyo State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in all 33 local government areas during the local government election conducted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on Saturday. The results were announced by Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), Chairman of OYSIEC, who acknowledged areas for improvement in the electoral process.

Olagunju expressed gratitude for the election's success, highlighting the support and commitment of the state governor. PDP candidates emphasized the peaceful, free, fair, and credible nature of the election, attributing their victory to voter preference and plans for continuity in governance focused on health, education, and infrastructure development.

Specific results included the PDP winning chairmanship seats in various local government areas such as Akinyele, North-East, Ibadan South-East, Ibadan North, Lagelu, Oluyole, Ibadan South-West, Orire, Atiba, Oyo West, and Iwajowa, among others. The APC also participated in the election but received significantly fewer votes across the local governments.

Niger: Police parade two for impersonation, theft, unlawful possession of arms

The Niger State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Sabiu Hassan and Ibrahim Ahore, for alleged false impersonation, theft, unlawful possession of firearms, and arms dealing. The arrests followed a complaint from a victim whose motorcycle was stolen by individuals dressed in police and vigilante attire. The motorcycle was recovered from Sabiu Hassan's residence, where a locally-made pistol was also found. Sabiu confessed to stealing the motorcycle and implicated his accomplice, Kabiru, who is currently at large. Further investigations led to the discovery of additional firearms at Ibrahim Ahore's location in Beji. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, while Sabiu and Ahore have been charged and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for prosecution.

Breaking: JAMB Releases 2024 UTME Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. Over 1.94 million candidates participated in the examination held across 118 towns and over 700 centres nationwide. The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this announcement during a press conference held at the board's headquarters in Bwari, Abuja. The examination, which commenced on April 19th and concluded on April 29th, 2024, has released the results, with further details expected to be provided during the ongoing press conference.
