Peter Obi, a presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has denied being impoverished and stated that he has never been accused of embezzling public funds.

When asked if he would be open to Nigerians seeing his wealth, Peter Obi reportedly said this, according to Sahara Reporters.

Since he is no longer in office, the former governor of Anambra State stated that it is unnecessary to inform Nigerians about his asset.

Speaking during an appearance on HaveYourSay247, an interactive online session with Nigerians, Peter Obi said, "It is not necessary for me to say my assets, but what I can tell Nigerians is that I am not a poor man, and nobody can accuse me of stealing government money."

Additionally, he addressed the Labour Party's current predicament, stating that it pales in comparison to the challenges confronting Nigeria.

According to Peter Obi, who spoke with Rudolph Okonkwo of the HaveYourSay247 interactive session, the party's current dilemma would be resolved shortly.

He said, "Whatever is happening in the Labour Party is so minute compared to what is happening in the country. So, for me, it is something we will resolve amicably, and it is not anything to worry about. Let's worry about the country and how the average Nigerian would be able to have a means of livelihood to feed themselves."

A number of people have criticised Peter Obi, the party's leader, for failing to resolve the internal conflict by using his position's authority. When asked about it, Obi responded that being party leader is not in his future goals, but that he simply wants things done right.
