FG Approves Salary Raise For Civil Servants

The Federal Government on Tuesday approved 25% and 35% salary increase for civil servants across various consolidated salary structures.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Press, National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, Emmanuel Njoku, the increases takes effect on January 1, 2024.

Fubara Hails Finidi's Appointment As Super Eagle Head Coach

Governor Fubara, in a congratulatory message by his Chief Press Secretary Nelson Chukwudi, said the appointment is a testament to Finidi’s “hard work, commitment, perseverance and patriotism over the years”.

He recalled George’s sterling performances at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup finals, as well as his contributions to the Super Eagles winning gold, silver, and bronze medals in the 1992, 1994, 2000, and 2002 AFCON tournaments, among other exploits.


Ogun Assembly Urges Housing Corporation To Boost Revenue

The Chairman, Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption Committee of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Damilare Bello has urged the  state’s housing corporation to improve its internally generated revenue into the coffers of the state government.

Bello had expressed displeasure over the decline in the revenue of the state’s housing corporation

The lawmaker, according to a statement on Tuesday, gave the charge while examining the financial records of the corporation for the years 2021 and 2022 at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.


Army Hands Over 55 Bags Of Smuggled Rice To Ogun Customs

The 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, has handed over 55 bags of smuggled rice to the Ogun Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday.

The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 35 Artillery Brigade, Lt Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

Goni said that, an alleged smuggler with a Mazda Salon Car with number plate TA 01 AAA had crashed into a military vehicle at Enugada, Lafenwa, Abeokuta on Friday, April 26.


Ecobank Grows Profit By 11% To $407m

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated has seen its profit after tax grew by 11 percent year-on-year to $407m in 2023 from $367m in the previous year.

This was indicated in its financial results filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Tuesday.

During the period under review, the group’s profit before tax increased by 8 percent in 2023, or 34 percent when adjusted for foreign currency translation effects, to $581m.
