Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament, Kabando Wa Kabando, has criticised President William Ruto for his frequent project launches.

Ruto has been travelling across the country, inaugurating projects that some of his opponents, notably those from the opposition, claim were already inaugurated.

Residents of Vihiga County in the Western region showed their unhappiness with President William Ruto when he toured the county for the opening of several projects.

During interviews, some locals expressed frustration that the president was visiting to launch and commission a project that had already been initiated by the previous administration.

According to the people, President Ruto's appearance in the region was interpreted as a campaign for the 2027 elections, with implicit barbs directed at his political opponents.

Kabando has reiterated this sentiment, accusing Ruto of spreading false information during these events in order to obtain a second term in office in 2027.

"Rais, the hollow promises you keep making as you restart projects under the cover of Tangatanga for 2027 campaigns are wasteful. We should not face territorial insecurity, imprisonment, expulsion, or "go to heaven" threats. Students enrolling at universities should not be subjected to the fees deception," he stated on X.

Kabando has also warned Ruto about some of his acquaintances, notably those who accompany him on his national trips, which he sees as campaign activities.

He has warned that these people are not offering Ruto with honest input, even when he categorises a subset of Kenyan nationals, like as his recent critiques of wealthy businessman Jaswant Singh Rai.

According to the former Nyeri Senator candidate, Ruto has chosen a path of divisiveness and risks repeating the tragedy of late Congolese President Mobutu Sese Seko if he does not exercise caution.

"Hon. Rais, the brokers, stooges, fraudsters, opportunists, court poets, and platitude masters who will accompany you on campaigns in 2027 are your biggest adversaries as President. If Kenya sinks, falls, or separates, you will be an isolated Mobutu Seseseko. Be very, very worried.

President Ruto faced criticism for reviving initiatives that had been undertaken by his predecessors. The opposition accused him of attempting to grab credit for these development efforts and recommended him to focus on completing his own campaign promises.

During a five-day trip to the Mt. Kenya region, Ruto justified his choice to relaunch these initiatives by stating that he had helped plan them during the previous administration.

He added that he took up these projects during the present administration due to interruptions created by the political arrangement known as the "handshake" between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
