Zulum’s Clear Opposition Is A Pointer To What Fate Of Tinubu Would Be From North East 2027 —Apostle Bola O. Akinyemi
Apostle Bola O. Akinyemi, the Convener of the Apostolic Roundtable (ART) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Project Victory Call Initiative (PVC Naija), has shared his views on the reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT.
Akinyemi underlined the urgent need for reforms in Nigeria.
He described the nation as being in dire need of both sectoral and national changes.
He called for the review and possible adoption of the 1963 Constitution, saying this could help guide Nigeria’s path to reformation.
Akinyemi highlighted the importance of addressing foundational issues within the country.
He stressed that national reformation must be prioritized alongside sector-specific reforms.
According to him, this approach is crucial for long-term stability and growth.
However, Akinyemi said it is too early to judge the success of Tinubu’s reforms.
While acknowledging the necessity of tax reforms, he expressed concerns over their implementation.
He noted the criticism by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, as a sign of potential challenges for Tinubu in the North East by 2027.
He warned that the administration’s approach could face resistance if reforms are not carefully aligned with the needs of all regions.
Akinyemi suggested that proper engagement with stakeholders is key to ensuring the success of the government’s plans.
"We can’t run away from the reformation of the Nigeria nation as it is today. We are in dire need of reforms, not just of the sectors, but of the nation itself. Consideration should urgently be given to national reformation through the review of the 1963 Constitution for adoption. It is too early in the day to commend the reforms, however, the tax reform is not an option. Prof Zulum’s vehement opposition to it is a pointer to what the fate of President Tinubu would likely be from Borno and the North East as a whole in 2027," he said.
