The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a four man gang specialized in snatching vehicles at gunpoint from motorists in Lagos. One of the suspect whose name was withheld has alleged that they operate primarily in Ajah area of Lagos State and that they use a local gun to intimidate their victims.
He however stated that despite the threat of violence, they had never killed any of their victims. He explained that if they encountered a car parked with its windows down and an occupant inside, they would forcibly remove the person and swiftly abscond with the vehicle.
He said in an interview with Vanguard, "I started robbing in April 2024. Whenever we steal a car, I drive it to the receiver's place to sell. We steal cars randomly on the road. If we see any car parked with its windows down and a person inside, we drag them out and drive off with the car. We steal cars in Ajah using a local gun but we have never killed any of our victims."
