Bandits have struck Maradun town, the administrative headquarters of Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nigeria, leaving one person dead and several others abducted. The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, plunging the town into chaos and fear.

Despite the gravity of the incident, the police authorities in the state have yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack.

However, according to Nura Maradun, a resident of the town who spoke with Channels Television, the assailants stormed the area around 1 am armed with sophisticated weaponry, unleashing terror on unsuspecting residents.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the bandits carried out their assault with impunity, firing indiscriminately to instill fear among the populace.

The attackers proceeded to systematically target homes, forcibly abducting residents. Nura Maradun recounted the harrowing ordeal, stating, "They came in around 1 am and operated till 4 am unchallenged. They went on to search house by house looking for people to be kidnapped."

The aftermath of the raid has left devastation in its wake, with one confirmed fatality and at least eight individuals, mostly women, abducted. Among the kidnapped are reported to be daughters of prominent figures, including the brother of the Emir of Maradun.
