APC Predicts Dire Consequences for NNPP in 2027 Over Kano Emirship Row

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will suffer electoral defeat in 2027 due to its bias in the Kano Emirate crisis, according to Vanguard News.

According to a statement released on Monday in Abuja by the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the NNPP's stance on the issue will harm its own electoral chances rather than affecting President Bola Tinubu's prospects.

The APC claims that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP's presidential candidate, lacks national appeal to become Nigeria's president. The party asserts that it is now more united and popular and will secure triple its previous votes in Kano State due to the current administration's failures.

Abbas refuted a media report attributed to NNPP Kano State Chairman Hashimu Dungurawa, stating that it is the ruling party and its national leader, Kwankwaso, who will suffer the consequences of the ongoing emirship dispute. He described the NNPP's claims as a sign of frustration in the state and national political arenas.

The APC chairman believes the crisis within the opposition NNPP and its leader, Kwankwaso, is exposing its failures, despite boasts of winning the presidency in 2027. He alleged that Kwankwaso's 2023 presidential bid was a test of his national appeal, a bid to remain relevant, and an attempt to pave the way for his son-in-law's political advancement and reclaim Kano from the APC.

He said “Kwankwaso got 1,454,649 total votes, representing only 6.23 percent, and most of them from Kano,” he said. “In fact, media post-election analysis showed that Kwankwaso did not get up to 100,000 votes elsewhere aside from Kano.

“How come Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the opposition Labour Party from the faraway South East, bested Kwankwaso in the 13 northern states of Kaduna, Taraba, Borno, Gombe, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Plateau, Adamawa, and Benue?”

The APC Chairman stated that the people of Kano and prominent leaders in Northern Nigeria recognize that the federal government's sole interest in the ongoing Emirate crisis in Kano is to uphold the rule of law, ensuring peace and tranquility in the most populous state.
