National Assembly cuts short recess over Tinubu's request

The two chambers of the National Assembly (Member's of the House of Representative, and Member's of the Senate) have resumed plenary as against earlier adjournment to resume on July 2, 2024. 

This follows receipt of executive communication from President Bola Tinubu to extend the implementation period for the N21.83 trillion capital component of 2023 budget and N2.17 trillion 2023 Supplementary Budget from June 30 to December 31, 2024 

President Tinubu is also seeking Senate confirmation of the nominations of DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, with Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as member.

The President in a separate letter seeks the confirmation of for Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Olatunji Bello as CEO/Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumers Protection Commission, FCCPC.

The Senate went into a closed session to consider some of the items on its Order Paper.
