In a recent development following the revelation of financial irregularities involving former governor Yahaya Bello, Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State, has publicly advised Bello to confront the allegations and cooperate with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) without hesitation according to a report from Sahara Reporters.

Ortom's message, delivered with a tone of concern and admonition, emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in governance. He urged Bello not to tarnish the reputation of former governors and to face the EFCC with dignity and honesty.

Speaking directly to Bello, Ortom stated, "Let me use this opportunity to advise my younger brother and friend, former governor Yahaya Bello not to disgrace former governors. If you are called to come and account for your stewardship by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, go there."

Ortom's words carried a sense of urgency and a call to action, urging Bello to address the allegations promptly rather than evading responsibility or resisting arrest. He emphasized that the EFCC, as an institution tasked with upholding the law, should be approached with respect and cooperation.

Expressing his attempts to reach out to Bello directly, Ortom explained the importance of facing the accusations head-on and complying with the legal process. He urged Bello to heed his advice, regardless of his current whereabouts, and to present himself before the EFCC to clarify the situation.

Adding that; "You do not need to hide from EFCC, you do not need to resist arrest or anything. Go there and explain. EFCC are human beings who are doing their work. If they are making inquiries, the laws are there. I have tried to get him (Yahaya Bello) on phone, I could not, I tried those around him, I could not. I want him to note, wherever he is, if he can hear me from there, he should go before the EFCC."
