Niclas Fullkrug emerged as the savior for Germany, ensuring a dramatic 1-1 draw against Switzerland and securing the top spot in Group A at Euro 2024, according to FotMob.

Switzerland looked poised for an upset victory, thanks to Dan Ndoye’s inaugural international goal. However, Germany's substitute, Fullkrug, headed in a last-minute equalizer, altering the outcome in Frankfurt.

Ruben Vargas nearly doubled Switzerland's lead, only to be thwarted by an offside call.

This critical decision came back to haunt Switzerland when Fullkrug nodded in the tying goal in the 92nd minute.

Germany's draw means they lead Group A and will clash with the second-placed team from Group D in the round of 16. Switzerland, finishing second, will face the runner-up from Group B.

The host nation started the match energetically. An early goal seemed on the cards when Florian Wirtz set up Robert Andrich, whose shot beat Yann Sommer at the near post.

However, a VAR review disallowed the goal due to a foul by Jamal Musiala in the build-up.

Switzerland then took the lead just before the 30-minute mark. Ndoye smashed home Remo Freuler's cross, leaving Manuel Neuer with no chance.

Minutes later, Ndoye threatened again, narrowly missing the far post after sprinting past Antonio Rudiger.

At halftime, Germany's coach Julian Nagelsmann emphasized the need for urgency. Musiala responded with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but Sommer was up to the task.

Toni Kroos and Kai Havertz also came close, with Kroos shooting wide and Havertz heading over the bar. Joshua Kimmich’s attempt from close range in the 71st minute was blocked heroically by Manuel Akanji.

Switzerland’s Vargas found himself one-on-one with Neuer, scoring, but his effort was ruled out for offside, dampening Swiss celebrations. Havertz's header struck the crossbar, heightening the tension as Germany chased the equalizer.

The breakthrough came when Fullkrug, introduced from the bench, met David Raum's cross with a powerful header, clinching a crucial point for Germany in the dying moments of the game.

After the completion of the match, Former Arsenal Midfielder, Granit Xhaka was named the man of the match after his outstanding performance against Germany.

The veteran midfielder was solid in midfield along with completing 86% pass accuracy, created one chance and 6 recoveries.
