The Federation of Informal Workers of Nigeria (FIWON) has condemned the policies of President Bola Tinubu's administration, stating that they have worsened the living standards of ordinary Nigerians. According to Comrade Blessing Yusuf, Chairperson of FIWON, the removal of subsidies, increased electricity tariffs, and multiple taxes have exacerbated the hardship faced by Nigerians.

"Tinubu's administration is not a new dawn but a series of calamities," said Comrade Iortyom Moses from the Workers and Youth Solidarity Network (WYSN). "The government's failure to implement the minimum wage, the alarming levels of poverty, insecurity, and unemployment, and the underfunding of education are all indicators of a failed administration."

According to Sahara reporters, Yusuf emphasized that the informal sector, which contributes significantly to the economy, faces insecurity and lacks social protection. She called for resistance against the policies and stressed the urgent need for action to improve the situation in the informal sector.

The speakers at the symposium organized by FIWON and WYSN in Abuja unanimously condemned the Tinubu administration's continued neoliberal policies, arguing that they have worsened the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians. They called for collective efforts to address the national challenges and accused the government of following the directives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank instead of prioritizing the needs of Nigerians.
