WDU: The situation was quickly brought under control by the intervention of security agencies

According to Vanguard, Western Delta University (WDU) has assured parents and students that the campus is now safer and more secure after a robbery incident occurred on Thursday. Some criminal elements had gained entrance into the main hostel, harassing students and stealing mobile phones and power banks. Although no serious injuries were reported, the incident has caused concern among students, parents, and stakeholders.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Augustine Ikelegbe, expressed sympathy and assured that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of students. The university is working closely with security agencies, including the Delta Hawk, Police, Army, and NSCDC, to investigate the incident and apprehend the perpetrators.

Management understands the trauma and worry caused by the incident and is prioritizing student welfare and wellbeing. The university is making extensive efforts to ensure students feel comfortable and safe as they prepare for their second-semester examinations.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked parents and the public for their concerns and assured them that the university is doing everything possible to prevent such incidents in the future. The university remains committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for its students.
