Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour recently responded on social media to comments made by an unidentified individual asserting that people from the Southeast of Nigeria have historically been targeted and assaulted.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, using his official X account, recently shared a tweet from former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, affirming his refusal to engage in ethnic politics.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour additionally posted a video featuring an unidentified individual who criticized Minister of Works Dave Umahi for accusing Peter Obi of inciting the South East against the current administration.

The man expressed surprise at Minister Dave Umahi's statement and strongly condemned the implication of an entire ethnic group in Nigeria, referring to it as "dog whistling."

He highlighted the consistent scapegoating of the Igbo people, citing a history of violence against them dating back to 1953, which he deemed unacceptable.

The man further disclosed that the Igbo community has purportedly faced massacres even before Nigeria gained independence, emphasizing that Nigeria cannot achieve unity if one ethnic group continues to be consistently targeted.

And so Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in response to such video, stated that it is a shame that Peter Obi's well-intentioned criticism had to be reduced to ethnic politics, but he is glad that there are journalists and commentators that see through the charade and dispassionately educate the public.
