In an interview with Arise News, former Senator Olaka Nwogu referenced a significant court ruling to support his argument in the Rivers State Assembly crisis. Nwogu pointed to a January ruling by a Federal High Court, which declared that Edison Ehie, Oko-Jumbo's predecessor, was never legitimately elected as Speaker.

The court's decision, according to Nwogu, also affirmed the legality and validity of all actions taken by Amaewhule, solidifying his position as the rightful leader of the Assembly. This ruling, Nwogu implied, undermines Oko-Jumbo's claims to the speakership and legitimizes Amaewhule's leadership.

By invoking the court's decision, Nwogu aims to reinforce the legal basis for Amaewhule's authority and counter Oko-Jumbo's attempts to assert control.

In his words;

"There was a ruling a January by a Federal High Court where it was expressly ruled. The ruling of the Court was that Edison Ehie who was the predecessor of Oko-Jumbo, was never a speaker and all the acts of Amaewhule are legal and valid"
