The campaign director of Atiku/Lado in Katsina State during the 2023 general elections, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, has said the lingering crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), both at national and states level was lately fuelled by the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.

Dr Inuwa said this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Katsina where issues pertaining to the party’s crisis in the state were discussed.

Recall that some stakeholders in Katsina have accused a faction led by the 2023 governorship candidate, Yakubu Lado Danmarke, with the backing of the state caretaker committee appointed by the national working committee, of concealing the party Congresses forms.

The meeting discussed how the congress forms collected from Abuja were being distributed clandestinely as “only one man is seeking to control the entire state structure of the party”.

“It is a common knowledge that both Wike and Ortom have declared that they have no presidential candidate to support in the 2027 elections but they endorsed President Tinubu.

“Their main aim was not to win election but to weaken the party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 election in favour of President Tinubu and that is why they are using stooges in the state to fulfil their mission,” he said.

The meeting, which was chaired by a former national secretary of the PDP, Sen. Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, has vowed to do anything possible to salvage the party in Katsina before the upcoming congresses.

Cena made his WWE debut in 2002. However, since 2018, he has taken on a more part-time position in the organization to focus on his film career.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently tackle hunger and starvation ravaging the country to save the masses and provide them decent living.

Oyintiloye, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, Osun State capital, said that Nigerians were hungry and living below the poverty line.

The APC chieftain said that due to the prevailing harsh economy in the country, many households were finding it difficult to have three square meals.

Oyintiloye also urged the President not to ignore the United Nations’ prediction that 82 million Nigerians, which is about 64 per cent of the country’s population, may go hungry by 2030.

He further said that the National Bureau of Statistics data revealed that the food inflation rate in the country hit a record high 40.66 per cent in May, surpassing the previous months of 40.53 increase

Oyintiloye, a former member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, also said the common household food items were getting out of the reach of the common man due to the hike in prices.

The APC chieftain noted that despite the fact that Nigerians were working hard under different dehumanising conditions, what they were earning was still not enough to sustain them and their families due to inflation.

Rivers Crisis Requires Political Solution– Okupe

A former presidential spokesperson, Dr Doyin Okupe, says the leadership crisis bedeviling Rivers State is a total misfortune.

Okupe, who was a Director-General of the Labour Party, LP, Presidential Campaign Council, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos, stressing that the problem requires a political solution.

Rivers State has been engulfed in a crisis over a power tussle between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Mr Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The rift has polarised the State House of Assembly with lawmakers loyal to both political gladiators electing different Speakers to lead the House.

Reacting, however, Okupe said the crisis in the state was caused by disregard for rules and laws.

The former presidential spokesperson said while the judiciary could help to put things right, the best way to end the festering crisis is to proffer a political solution.

That is a total misfortune, and the real issue, if we look at it properly, is that we do not obey our laws. if only we obey our laws, this situation cannot surface at all.

“The courts have to help, the judiciary must be consistent, fair and judge according to law not any other sentiment.

“Let us all obey our laws and our rules and let the court adjudicate according to the law and anybody who flouts the law should pay for it.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, to account for payments of N729bn to 24.3 million poor Nigerians for six months.

The court also ordered the former minister to provide the list and details of the beneficiaries who received the payments, the number of states covered, and the payments per state.

The judgment was delivered in June by Justice Deinde Isaac Dipeolu following a Freedom of Information suit number: FHC/L/CS/853/2021, brought by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project.

The certified true copy of the judgment was obtained last Friday by the organisation.

In his judgment, Justice Dipeolu held that “The former minister is compelled by the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act to give information to any person, including SERAP. I therefore grant an order of mandamus directing and compelling the minister to provide the spending details of N729 billion to 24.3 million poor Nigerians in 2021.

Justice Dipeolu ordered the minister to “provide SERAP with details of how the beneficiaries have been selected and the mechanisms for the payments to the beneficiaries.”

The judge also ordered the minister to “explain the rationale for paying N5,000 to 24.3 million poor Nigerians, which translates to five per cent of Nigeria’s budget of N13.6 trillion for 2021.”
