In an open interview with former radio host Daddy Freeze, Nollywood actress Sarah Martins discussed why she has not attended church for six years, despite her deep Christian faith. Martins candidly expressed her disenchantment with church leaders and explained her choice to foster a personal connection with God outside of the church setting.
Martins revealed that her doubts about attending church stemmed from a disturbing incident with a priest at a Catholic Church. She recounted how the priest proposed that if she dated him and had his children, she would be rewarded with a luxurious life abroad.
During an interview with Daddy Freeze, she remarked, "Even in Catholic church, the father there told me that if I agree to date him and bear his children, he will fly me out and I'll have the best life," Martins said. "That was the last time I said I'm not going to church again."

Martins emphasized that her faith remains unshaken, but her confidence in religious leaders has been severely impacted. She highlighted the significance of her direct relationship with God, without relying on church intermediaries. "I believe in God, but not in pastors," she declared. "I would rather stay in my house and pray to God than go to church and pray through a pastor that will start asking me out after church services."
