Okey Nwanguma, the national coordinator and executive director of the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), expressed unease about the discrepancy between President Tinubu's remarks and the security status in Imo State. During President Tinubu's visit to Imo State for Governor Hope Uzodimma's second inauguration, he proclaimed that insecurity in the state had been quelled.

Nonetheless, Okey Nwanguma pointed out that just before the President's visit, there were incidents of violence, including the fatal attacks on police officers.

Lamenting the government's reaction, Okey Nwanguma observed that rather than comforting citizens and pledging more vigorous efforts to combat the security issues, they opted to assert that insecurity had been eradicated.

This position, according to Nwanguma, reflected a lack of awareness or comprehension of the actual security situation prevailing in Imo State.

In an interview with The Sun, Okey said, "When President Tinubu went to Imo State to attend second inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, he said insecurity has ended in Imo State, but within that week before he came some police officers were killed and there was a lot of violence in the state, but rather than give assurance of government putting more efforts and commitment to address insecurity, they were telling us that insecurity has ended. It means he is not in touch about the security reality in the state."
