Chief Emmanuel Iwanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, reportedly voiced his concerns about the way Igbo people are treated in Lagos, citing instances of marketplaces being blocked or destroyed and threats against the Igbo community, according to the Sun story. He brought attention to the recent demolition of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu's (Ikukuoma), an Igbo man, spiraling estate in Abuja and stressed that the correct legal procedures were not followed during this demolition. Iwanyanwu demanded that the demolition be looked into and that specific details surrounding the occurrence be obtained.

In order to show his strong position against the unfair treatment of Igbo people and their property and his dedication to pursuing justice for those impacted, he also encouraged the President to check into the situation. Iwanyanwu stated in an interview with The Sun, "The Igbo were abused and threatened to leave Lagos. Some markets in Lagos State dominated by the Igbo were either closed down or demolished.

We woke up one morning in Abuja to hear that a spiralling estate owned by an Igbo man, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma), had been demolished.

This matter was reported to me. I requested all relevant information regarding the demolition and from my findings, due process of law was not taken before this demolition. We also appeal to Mr. President to investigate this case of demolition of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu’s estate in Abuja."

His letter to the President emphasizes how grave the situation is and how determined he is to see that the Igbo people receive justice and fairness. Iwanyanwu hopes to draw attention to the legal and procedural problems surrounding the demolition by calling for an investigation and comprehensive information about it.
