Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo State, has been actively connecting with the Edo Diaspora in Europe. This effort recently saw a productive gathering in Hamburg, Germany, marking a highlight in his broader European tour. Other stops have included Reggio Emilia, Italy, as well as Manchester and London in the United Kingdom, with a concluding event planned in Nuremberg.

During his speech in Hamburg, Ighodalo restated his dedication to elevating Edo State to a leading sub-national entity in Nigeria. He stressed that with his running mate Barrister Osarodion Ogie and a proficient team, they are focused on realizing their manifesto titled "Pathway to Prosperity for All" to achieve this ambitious objective.

Ighodalo articulated his plans for the state, emphasizing the impactful historical roles of past leaders in Edo and the recent strides in development. He underscored the necessity of advancing from these achievements rather than reversing them, cautioning that any regression would harm the people of Edo State. Ighodalo acknowledged the progress achieved during Governor Godwin Obaseki's tenure and expressed his commitment to strengthening these reforms further. He emphasized the importance of the state continuing to advance, firmly stating that returning to previous conditions would not be tolerated.

Ighodalo promised to focus on enhancing security and law enforcement in Edo State, aiming to establish a benchmark for governance and order. He emphasized the significance of upholding law and order and addressing the widespread issue of impunity in the country. The gathering ended with strong endorsement from the audience, as Ighodalo's vision and dedication to the state's future struck a chord with those present.

Hear him: “We must know who we are in Edo State. Our state has produced some very famous individuals in the past who etched their names in national history. The last eight years have witnessed some good developments. We must build on them. We can’t go back to the past. If it happens it will be a shame to each and every one of us in this hall. I am not a spokesperson for the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki, but I can tell you that the administration has moved Edo State from where it used to be. We can only move forward and not seek to go back. Edo State has changed. It is time to solidify the reforms that the Obaseki administration has achieved.”

We are clear in our mind that working through the ‘Pathway to Prosperity for All’ we can achieve it. The task we set before ourselves is to ensure Edo State is secured. Before the conversation on State Police is concluded, we will make do with what we have. How do people live without law and order? You see impunity everywhere in the country. No, we must set the pace in Edo State. There must be high regard for law and order."
