According to the report from the Tribune, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has boldly announced the intention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to reclaim Ondo State from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming November 2024 governorship election.
Speaking on Monday while hosting PDP leaders from the South-West geopolitical zone in Ibadan, Governor Makinde emphasized the unity within the PDP ranks and expressed confidence that the party, alongside its governorship candidate Mr. Agboola Ajayi, will put up a strong performance at the polls in Ondo.
Governor Makinde highlighted the support of all PDP leaders and stakeholders across the six South-West states for the Ondo PDP candidate. He stated, "Our candidate, HE Agboola Ajayi, is here, and the first step forward for us is to reconcile all the tendencies in Ondo. This is because once we have a unified PDP in Ondo State, we have a path to the Alagbaka Government House."
He further stressed the unity and determination of the PDP, stating, "So, for us, people should expect a very strong showing from the PDP in Ondo State in November by the grace of God. With our leaders from across the southwest standing behind our candidates in the state, I think it is a strong signal to the present occupier of the Ondo Government House. The PDP is coming and it will happen."
In a similar vein, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, echoed the sentiments of Governor Makinde, emphasizing the unity and collective efforts of the South-West PDP leaders towards ensuring a successful outcome in the Ondo election. He lauded the transparency of the party's primary process, which saw Ajayi emerge victorious, reaffirming the PDP's commitment to democracy and due process.
The South-West PDP gathering in Ibadan signified a pivotal moment for the party as it strategizes and unifies its stance ahead of the Ondo governorship election. With a strong resolve and the support of leaders across the region, the PDP aims to mount a formidable challenge to wrestle back control of Ondo State from the APC in November 2024.
