According to Daily Post, the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), a prominent support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent visits to former presidents as a futile endeavor. Atiku’s meetings with ex-leaders Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Muhammadu Buhari have sparked speculation about his intentions for the 2027 presidential race.

In a statement released by DOJ’s national coordinator, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, the group characterized Atiku’s engagement with the former presidents as “a vain pursuit of the surreal, an unrealistic endeavour, and another fruitless journey that would certainly end in disappointment.”

Alawuje emphasized that Atiku’s efforts to garner support for a potential 2027 campaign are misguided. “Obviously, Atiku and his handlers have forgotten that power comes only from God and not through the manipulative tendencies of individuals even as they try to mislead the citizens,” he stated. This reveals DOJ’s view that divine will, rather than political maneuvering, will determine the outcome of future elections.

DOJ's response highlights their confidence in Tinubu's prospects for 2027. Alawuje insisted that any opposition attempts to challenge Tinubu’s expected bid for a second term are doomed to fail. “Though the details of his meetings with former presidents remain sketchy, feelers are that the visit may not be unconnected with the 2027 presidential election. If this is indeed true, then Atiku Abubakar must be told in clear terms that 2027 is not negotiable as far as President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is concerned,” he added.
