Two players eligible to represent the Super Falcons of Nigeria have been named in England's squad for the 2024 UEFA Women's U17 EURO finals, according to All Nigeria Soccer. Arsenal midfielder Omotara Junaid and Manchester City forward Jane Oboavwoduo are part of the 20-player squad announced by the English Football Association on Saturday morning.

The tournament, scheduled to take place in Estonia, will see England face Norway, Sweden, and France in the group stage. Junaid, who became provisionally cap-tied to England in March, will be joined by Oboavwoduo, who has been promoted from the U16s and is set to make her competitive debut for the Young Lionesses.

This development highlights the growing trend of Nigerian-eligible players representing other countries at the youth level. Ashleigh Plumptre, a Super Falcons defender, previously represented England at the 2014 UEFA Women's U17 Championship, while Rinsola Babajide switched allegiance to the Super Falcons after playing for the Young Lionesses.

The selection of Junaid and Oboavwoduo demonstrates the talent and potential of Nigerian-eligible players in the English football system. However, it also raises questions about the ability of the Nigeria Football Federation to attract and retain top talent for the Super Falcons.
