Police Officer Arrested in Naivasha While Transporting Ivory Worth 2.9 Million Shillings

A police officer has been arrested in Naivasha for transporting twenty nine pieces of ivory valued at 2.9 million shillings. The police officer was arrested together with another suspect along the Mai Mahiu highway.

The two suspects were travelling from Narok to Naivasha when they were apprehended by Kenya Wildlife Service officers. The KWS officers had been trailing the two suspects for several hours before they were finally arrested.

The suspects are believed to be part of a criminal gang that has been involved in poaching activities for a long time. The criminals have been hunting wild animals from Maasai Mara reserve before selling the ivory to foreign countries.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have launched investigations into the mysterious incident. The two suspects have recorded statements with the police regarding the matter. They are waiting to be presented in court and charged for the offence.

Several people have been arrested in the last few months after they were found in possession of ivory. They are currently facing charges for the crime. The Kenya Wildlife Service is committed to maintaining the safety of wild animals in the country.
