Dr. Salim Musa Umar, the President-General of the Fulbe Global Development and Rights Initiative (FGDRI), emphasized the urgent need for action to address the ongoing conflict between Fulani and Hausa communities. He called for the establishment of a committee tasked with engaging the Sultan to prioritize leadership and resolution of the feud. Dr. Umar highlighted the existential threat faced by the Fulani people, stressing that if they are not safe in Sokoto State, it raises concerns about their safety nationwide.

According to what Dr. Umar said in the report by Vanguard, "It’s high time we set up a committee that will take us to the Sultan to take leadership seriously and settle the Fulani and Hausa feud. As a race, we are facing an existential threat. If a Fulani is not safe in Sokoto State, I don’t know where he will be safe in this country. The criminals among us are not representing us; they are not our ambassadors; we didn’t ask them to go and do banditry or kidnapping on our behalf; they are criminals and must be identified as such."
