According to DAILY POST reports, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to release the medical certificate of Mr. Tigran Gambaryan, the detained Binance Holdings Limited executive, on or before July 16, 2024.

The order was given by Justice Emeka Nwite following an application by Gambaryan's lawyer, Mark Mordi, SAN, who had prayed the court to summon Dr. Abraham Ehizojie, the Medical Doctor at the health facility of the Kuje Correctional Centre, to explain why he had refused to make available his client's medical report despite an earlier court order.

The court's decision comes amid the ongoing trial of Binance and Gambaryan on alleged money laundering charges, where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented its second prosecution witness, a staff member of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

During the proceedings, Ekele Iheanacho, the EFCC counsel, allayed Mordi's fears, stating that the correctional centre had qualified medical personnel and facilities to take care of Gambaryan.

In his ruling, Justice Nwite ordered that the medical report of Gambaryan's state of health be made available on or before the next adjourned date, which is set for July 16.

The judge further declared that if the medical certificate is not provided by that date, the doctor in charge of the facility shall come to court to explain the delay.

This development comes after Gambaryan had collapsed in open court on May 23 due to alleged ill-health.

Earlier, the defence law firm, Aluko & Oyebode, had raised the alarm that the cryptocurrency firm's executive might die in the Kuje Correctional Centre due to his deteriorating health.
