Sophia Momodu Taunting Me With Ifeanyi’s Death – Davido

Davido accused his baby mama, Sophia Momodu, of taunting him with the death of their son, Ifeanyi. He had taken Momodu to court for joint custody of their daughter, Imade. Momodu opposed, citing concerns over the child's safety due to Ifeanyi's death. Davido expressed frustration over the situation on social media, stating he sought only joint custody and accusing Momodu of using Ifeanyi's death to hurt him. He eventually stated he might stop pursuing custody but assured his daughter he fought for her.

Two Robbers Bag Five-Year Jail Term

Two individuals, Believe Leisure and Jacob Doukumo, have been sentenced to five years in prison by a Bayelsa State High Court for conspiracy, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms. They were arrested for robbing two victims of a Suzuki outboard engine in December 2022. While Doukumo was present for sentencing, Leisure passed away awaiting trial in custody. The court found them guilty on all charges under the Robbery and Firearms Act and sentenced them accordingly.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State expressed concern over the rise of miscreants in the state during his absence for pilgrimage. Chairing a State Executive Council meeting, he stressed the need for continuous community and local government security efforts. He criticized the Ministry for Security Affairs for gaps in security management and emphasized that the state must not be surrendered to miscreants. The governor called for non-casual, non-ad-hoc security measures and urged the security and internal affairs commissioner to improve and sustain achievements in security.

Naira reverses three-day loss at parallel market, appreciates to N1,525/$

On July 5, 2024, the naira reversed a three-day depreciation trend in the parallel foreign exchange market, appreciating by 0.98% to N1,525 per dollar from N1,535 the previous day. The official exchange rate also improved, rising to N1,509 per dollar from N1,520. The naira had consecutively depreciated from July 1 to July 4. The Central Bank of Nigeria's unification of the FX market in June 2023 caused significant fluctuations, affecting key economic sectors. However, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso expressed optimism about reduced volatility in the future.
