Despite the ongoing Anti government protests allover the country, president Ruto's Government has angered Kenyans a lot after increasing their salaries as from this month. Kenyans think that the government is ignoring them because how could they increase their salaries when a lot of people are jobless.
For instance, following what was gazetted yesterday, President's salary will increase from ksh. 1,546,875 to ksh. 1,65,000, the deputy president's salary will increase from ksh. 1,367,438 to ksh. 1,402,500 while that of members of parliament will have a salary increase from ksh. 741,003 to ksh. 769,201 among many other changes.
While reacting to this salary increase, Babu Owino has remarked, "MPs and other state officers should not be added even a coin. It's sad to increase salary while Kenyans have no jobs, Kenyans have no capital to start businesses, Kenyans have no money to pay school fees, no money for medication. Say no to salary increment."
