Court Adjourns Yahaya Bello’s Arraignment Till July 17

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday adjourned the arraignment of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, till July 17, 2024.

Bello is facing a 19-count charge bordering on money laundering, breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of about N80.2bn brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission

At Thursday’s proceeding, Bello’s lawyer, Adeola Adedipe (SAN), applied to withdraw his appearance for Bello.

Earlier, Adedipe brought the court’s attention to an application before the Chief Judge for transfer of charge no: FHC/ABJ/CR/98/2024 to the Federal High Court, Lokoja, pursuant to Section 45 of the Federal High Court Establishment Act.

PDP Has Failed Rivers People — Fubara

The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has regretted that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has failed the people of the State in the face of the lingering political crisis.

Fubara said the state is currently relying on what it can do based on truth instead of party politics.

The governor spoke while hosting a delegation of the Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialization, led by its Chairman, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, to Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Fubara said the state would no longer be held back by party affiliation, but would instead stand firm on its own soil to defend democracy.

Soldiers repel IPOB attack on Ebonyi police station, kill five fighters

Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for operations in Ebonyi State have thwarted an attack by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra on Isheke Police Station.

The IPOB fighters were said to have invaded the station and torched the facility as well as several vehicles on the premises.

In a statement posted on Thursday on X, the service said its troops on arrival at the scene engaged the IPOB fighters in a gun duel.

The Army added that the fighters were overpowered and five of them were killed while others fled the scene.

Nigerian singer and music producer, Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has disclosed the reason why he is still single.

While responding to a user on X.com on Wednesday who had asked him, “Why aren’t you married?” Don Jazzy stated that he is working on self-improvement.

“I dey work on myself, so that when my head correct, my babe go enjoy me,” the head of Mavin Records replied.

In 2021, Don Jazzy revealed that he got married to an American model and author, Michelle Jackson, at the age of 20; however, the marriage crashed two years later.
