Wike: Next Time We Go For An Event, He'll Get A Reply. I'm Going To Take Him On - Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former federal legislator, has declared his intention to address Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike on comments the latter made at a recent function.

During his appearance on Channels TV Sunday Politics, Sani addressed Wike's criticism of his Senate service and contributions to democracy.

Clearly angry, Sani, the 8th National Assembly representative for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, accused the former governor of Rivers State of deliberately scheduling his speech to come last at events in order to delay any reaction to his remarks.

In his words, "Next time when we go for an event, since I know his formula, speaking last, closing the chapter, and everybody should go home. It will never happen again. He will certainly get a reply."

“Wike is my good friend. I would have preferred to reply to him at an event rather than on TV."

"I have attended two events where he strategically placed himself at the end of the event and made sure nobody replied to him. But I believe that when an opportunity comes next, I am going to take him on.”

Sani emphasized his and others' efforts to overthrow Nigeria's military dictatorship, implying that Wike and other people are now enjoying democratic government due to their efforts.

He said, "But nobody can demean the struggle we did to free Nigeria from military dictatorship."

"If not for the struggles we did to de-establish military dictatorship in Nigeria, people like Wike couldn’t have been local government chairman, governor, or minister today. He is a beneficiary of our struggles and sweats and all that we have invested in them."

When Sani thought back on his experience, he remembered being a political prisoner at Port Harcourt Prison and wondered where Wike had been throughout that time of political turbulence.
