Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has emphasized the need to attract the best brains and hands into the civil and public service to rebuild Nigeria and put it on the path of progress and prosperity. Speaking at a strategy retreat of the Heads of Service (HOS) of six states, including Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, and Delta, Obaseki stressed that the public and civil service must be revamped to achieve this vision.

Obaseki, who is also the Chairman of the BRACED Commission, noted that in the past, the Federal Civil Service and other states' civil services would recruit the best talents from universities, resulting in an efficient and effective public service. He emphasized that to rebuild Nigeria, the best must be attracted back into the public and civil service, and this requires treating them well, paying them competitively, and providing a conducive work environment.

The governor highlighted his administration's achievements in automating processes, motivating civil servants, rebuilding capacity through training, and revamping the work environment. He encouraged the participants to adopt a similar approach to recreate the trajectory of an efficient and effective public service in their respective states.
